Biography
Dutch musician Henry Kelder is born in Groningen 08-07-1973. He lives in Hoogland with his family and has a twin called Gijs and Berend.

In 2010 Henry Kelder is appointed as pianoprofessor at the Utrecht Conservatoire.
Henry Kelder has graduated with distinction in 1995 as a classical pianist at the North-Netherlands Conservatoire in Groningen with Gerben Makkes van der Deijl as his teacher.
After that, he studied in Rotterdam for concertpianist and chambermusician with Barbara Grajewska.
He took lessons with Eugen Indjic, Vladimir Tropp, György Kurtág, Ronald Brautigam, Pavel Gililov, John O'Conor,
Jan Wijn and Zoltán Kocsis.
Henry Kelder entered the finals of the European Yamaha-pianocompetition in 1996.
He won the 1st prize, playing with Wieke Karsten (as a flute/piano-duo), at the 8th International Kuhlau-competition in Uelzen (D) in 1998.
Henry Kelder performed all over Europe and North-America, solo, as a chambermusician and with orchestras.
From 1996-2008 Henry Kelder was pianoprofessor at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen.
From 2000-present he´s working as a répétiteur (coach pianist) at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
Kelder developed a perfect first sight-reading. One of his specialities is improvising in different styles, from jazz to pop and from classical to free contemporary.

Since 2007 Henry Kelder works as a conductor with orchestras, ensembles and choirs. For VocalLAB the Netherlands he worked with composers, directors and vocalists at numerous contemporary operas to be worldpremiered. In 2010 he was guest-choirconductor for the Dutch Opera for Raskatov's A Dog's Heart. For 2010-2011 he's invited to work several times with the Vocalconsort Berlin.
Henry Kelder studied orchestral conducting at the Fontys Conservatoire Tilburg with Arjan Tien. During this period he assisted Tien with the South African Chamber Orchestra in Pretoria and Magogo Chamber Orchestra in Tilburg. He took lessons from Denise Ham, George Hurst, Dirk Brossé, Jos Vermunt, Zsolt Déaky and Lucas Vis.
He conducted during November Music and Ruhrtriennale Bochum. Since 2008 he is appointed chef of the Deventer Chamberorchestra.

Henry Kelder mainly wrote chambermusic or pieces for solo instruments. In 2011 his new musictheatre Teekeningen I will be premiered.
Henry Kelder studied composition at the Utrecht Conservatoire with Tristan Keuris and later at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Louis Andriessen a.o.
